01Course and sensory territory

Divides into superficial and deep fibular nerves; relatively superficial around the fibular head and neck.

02Motor supply

Tibialis anterior, toe extensors and fibularis longus/brevis.

03Localization clues

Weak dorsiflexion and eversion with relatively preserved inversion supports a fibular localization.

04Combine the studies

Record EDB and TA and assess the across-head segment. Compare tibialis posterior, gluteus medius or TFL for non-fibular L5 involvement.
